Civic Hesitancy

I am proud to be an American, as goes the song which is in tune with my heartfelt sentiments. However, I’m NOT excited to serve time as a juror. The judicial branch of the U.S. government is a blessed operation and I fully support justice in all its forms. Let it be known that I dutifully sent in my acceptance form yesterday, but I dragged my feet all the way to the mailbox. My assigned dates are anywhere from October 1 through December 29. Wow.

Wow - that's a long window of "opportunity." Every time I get a jury letter in the mail I cringe, but then it's always for hubby anyway. I hope it's not too painful for you!

Happiness that your birthday is on Sunday this year, so you know that at least you won't be in the box then.
And thanks for being on the jury - it's SO important, even if not fun.

maybe you'll get an exciting trial?? Personally, I have thought of excuses for ways to get out of jury duty, but some of them aren't that legit. Maybe I read too many John Grisham books, but I think there are lots of people in the jury pool, and with luck, maybe the attorneys and/or judge and/or legitimate excuse (you're a stay at home momma!) will let you off the hook. Let me know how it works, because I am dreading the time when I have to do jury duty.

wait....question. I just read Ruth's comment. Are you on the actually JURY? Or is it a jury pool? Cause if you're on Jury, congrats. But if it's jury pool, maybe there's still a chance!@!@!@

okay, one last comment, and then I need to calm down the OCD. (it's the caffeine, I swear. I just had some diet coke.) I too fully support and respect being on the jury, even if it is a nuisance. It's incredibly important to vote, and consequently, if you register to vote, you're going to be in a jury pool some time or another. I just think that if I have a legit reason to not be there, (going to give birth soon, breastfeeding, child has severe illness, you are the sole provider of care for your children, etc.) I wouldn't consider it any less patriotic. Okay. I'm done now.

wow, jury duty. Hopefully you get a case with a lot of evidence so you don't have to deliberate too long. Good luck!

I miss you tons (my favorite, coolest, super woman of the world). It's a small world after all, especially in the world of blogging. It is great to peak in on your life. Keep in touch.

My husband just received a summons for jury duty, but alas, he is a police officer and doesn't have to serve.
So maybe you could look into that. :P
